You’ve probably noticed that we’ve been on a bit of an artsy kick here at Selz! Lately, we’ve been finding some incredibly talented photographers who are using Selz, and our newest talent is a man named Marc Hayden. Marc lives in London, and is a portrait and fashion photographer.

Marc is a great example of a man who ditched the 9-5 for something better. Marc started out in the corporate world, but found that it didn’t satisfy his artistic and creative side. He decided to follow his heart down the path of photography and eventually found himself completely changing his career-path to pursue it full time. We absolutely love seeing people taking their passion to the next level and turning into a flourishing business.

Who are you?
I’m Marc Hayden, a London-based portrait/fashion photographer.

What do you do?
I’m fortunate enough to make my living by taking pictures. I shoot a lot for London’s leading model agencies and I’ve started shooting for emerging brands, too.

Why did you start your business?

I worked for Apple’s advertising agency for a number of years and just got tired of it. I love Apple tech, but my heart was always in art; I studied fine art at school, and did a degree in Graphic Arts.

Why do you love doing what you do?

So many reasons. It satisfies the creativity in me, I get to meet and work with awesome, energetic, and like-minded people, and I also get a finished piece of art after my days work.

How did you come to be doing what you do now – what was your journey?
After completing my degree in Graphic Arts, I worked in technology for 10 years as a sound engineer and then an Apple Mac specialist, but always had the want and need to get back to being creative. Once Instagram came out, I really starting pushing the iPhone camera, and it just got to a point where I wanted to develop my work and change careers.

How important is being able to sell online to your business?
Hugely. Being able to reach a global market is such a bonus, and a tool like Selz provides the perfect way to support my business.

Why do you use Selz?
It was effortless to set up, the customer service is second to none, and the way the site works on mobile is awesome.

What advice do you have for hopeful entrepreneurs?
Work damn hard and be prepared to make sacrifices!

    Can you include a link to Mark’s website / instagram etc. I would also love to here more details about how he connects with clients and what he sells online, because from the article it seemed like his business was portrait photography, so I am interested in what the online selling component is.
